request for mods

Post by HarveyDent »

Is there any way to make it mandatory that members display their location?

It would save a lot of time if we all had that information about traders up front instead of finding out after three or four emails.

Thanks,

Geoff

At this point, it's been bantered about a bit but not decided to be made into a requirement.
Lin likes to keep the site as free of rules as possible, while keeping it running as smooth as possible. It's one of those "choice" things that he has yet to decide to limit.

My suggestion is, simply, to make an offer to someone "tentative to them being in (enter acceptable location here)." Same thing for responding to offers.

That is what I've seen quite a bit in my experiences.

You gotta understand about Geoff though, he loves to cry about things.......it's ok, just ignore him like everyone else does. I mean this coming from a guy who hasn't painted a figure since 1994, you know?

LOL, and now that was payback for him calling me out for owing him a pop 2 weeks ago.....he's actually a good guy and I game with him regularly.

It's pretty much the truth about the no painted minis thing though. This guy is amazing, has about 34 billion points of combined GW stuff, and about 12 painted minis........LOL, it's actually quite comical.

wow... leave a thread alone for a few days and BAM! you get freakin' stoned to death!

yes, i am notorious for not painting things :)

i had two fully painted armies in 2nd edition - chaos and blood angels. when 3rd released i couldn't play them without COMPLETELY re-modeling everything. i said 'screw that' and i haven't really painted anything since.

some people quit, others sell an old army to buy a new one... i just don't paint anymore.

and i don't own 34 billion points worth of stuff... more like 100,000+ points between around 50 armies.

Don't fell bad HarveyDent. I have 3 armies with very few models painted. Mine is more or less I try and paint something, and then I see what other people painted and go put that model in a dark corner and tell him to never show his face in the light again. Some day I will win the lottery and then I can afford to have all my stuff commissioned. I just look at Adunaphel's stuff and all the other painters on the site and dont want to show my face around here anymore..:)

Too bad we dont live closer and we could play a game against each other and write a battle report and have people guess where one mass of grey unpainted plastic ends and where the other side begins.

oh, i'm completely fine with it. it's all the hypocrites that play at my LGS that don't like it. most of them (not npd_bigdaddy) have unpainted armies they play with all the time.... but they have ONE force they use for RTTs that is painted. so i catch a lot of flack for it.

no biggie. i'm used to it.

I like it just fine, I just think it's funny to joke him about it. Anybody that gets up in arms about someone NOT painting stuff needs to get a life. This is a game after all.

I play to have fun, I play for theme, as Geoff can attest to. He's more of a competitor, someone that loves to play with "winning" lists. He looks at me sometimes and says, "why did you do that", or "why take this" and it's because I play with lists that I enjoy that are built for fluff/theme and not necessarily to win.

Geoff just loves to play the game and makes great army lists, concentrating more on the building of armies and winning rather than the modelling and painting. I am the exact opposite. I love to play with "fun" lists with painted armies and could care less about winning.

I guess that's why I like playing with the goof, he's the yin to my yang..... :-D

And I still owe him a Mountain Dew.......

for the sake of clarity:

"auto-sucking' is a reference to a local players statement about using the veil of darkness to deep strike a necron unit elsewhere on the table.
