I started a trade with someone on June 26th, which is the day I sent the items out, to him. He received them and he could not find some of the items he had traded me, so I asked if he had anything else and he sent me a list. I picked quite a few things off that I was interested in and sent him some money via Paypal on July 17th. I sent him a reply to see when he shipped the items out and he finally replied on July 29th saying he was out of money to ship the items, and said he just got a check and will get my items in the mail. I sent him a message on August 6th and have not heard from him, but he has been on and has gotten the message.
I have started preceedings with Paypal to atleast get my money back.
Should I do anything else? Have I gone too far/not far enough?
I am still new to this and this is the first problem I have had.
Thanks
shane

Re: What to do when you think you got Burned?
First what should have happened is he should have shipped what he had to you minus what he couldn't find and later sent the rest after the agreement.. You do not begin a trade you cannot complete, Yes I understand that sometimes things happen, but it is easy to write an email. If he did scam you it is mail fraud and is a federal offense. Your steps towards the paypal resoultion is a good first step.
If you have his email, send him one. You have his address, you can send a certified paper mail demanding your items. Send it CERTIFIED, that is the only way that the post office guarentees that the individual got that particular piece of mail. (This option is if you are willing to shell out the money)
If you feel you have been scammed. Go to the Bad Trader Forum, READ ALL THE RULES, Then read them again, and once more for good luck. Then proceed to write a BTR. You can use other posters posts as an example. Make sure you post all your evidence and communications, including any that happened via email.
Sadly it looks like you "may" have gotten a bad apple. Don't let it turn you away from trading, but do let it be a lesson. Sadly your Rep is often used against you at such a low level.
