Just wondering what you gents think about the new Storm of Magic expansion for Warhammer? Likes? Dislikes? Concerns? I think the models look fairly decent

THe models do look nice, and the terrain pieces (even sans arcane fulcrum rules) are pretty cool.

I have mixed feelings about the rules i've seen.

Monster scrolls = cool.

Equilibrium spells = mostly cool, some are kind of insane for the cast cost.

Cataclysm uber spells = I think most of these are pretty ridiculous. *shrug*


My biggest gripe with 8th is that the magic phase didn't need an expansion to make it the most lethal and game changing phase. I like the new kit and kaboodle, and the expansion of options for armies, but some of it i'm a little "meh" on.

Still, haven't seen everything, so final judgement reserved until book in hand.

Do you have to have that to play? is there stuff in there for brets? Im still learning my way in the olde world,,,,and I so dont want to have to buy another rule book

I'm pretty sure it is just another expansion like like Apocalypse or Eye of Terror so you would not NEED it....I completely agree about the magic thing though. It is way overpowering already....I want to be able to put together an army list without choosing my two or three wizards first every time. There is one cataclysm spell I am worried about for the Lizardmen, basically you sacrifice your Slann and kill any enemy units in excess of your own i.e. you have three units your opponent has six, three die. Just like that. Wtf is that??? Oh well I'll peak through the book see what's up as it gets closer

No not just chaos, it encompasses every race, even Dwarfs! It's just a different way to play the game basically
