What do you figure the best School of Magic for a tournament?

My thoughts are Life for a Lord Level caster.
Due to Throne of Vines - Allowing you to get a RIP 2+ save on Miscasts,Flesh to Stone great defensive spell, and Dwellers Bellow Great at killing at least half a regiment a turn. The others are all useful.

The others I am thinking is Shadow or Death.

What are your thoughts?

For Dark Elfs I like to use Shadow on my lvl4 and Metal on the level2. You never know when your going to run into a steamtank!

Level 4 with Shadow is very effective provided that there are enough heros to allow him to swap out just in case the unit is with charged or he needs to make a speedy retreat for some reason.

I recently played a large scale game against O&G and teamed up with a High Elf player who used Teclis. OMG was he powerful. The best combo was using the Miasma (base spell) to reduce the iniative of the unit and then target the same unit with Pit of Shades. The unit in most armies will have an iniative of 1 so they'll have to take iniative tests on a 1. Good luck with that.

Even a level 4 Empire wizard is very nasty. A nasty combo for the Empire wizard is level 4 of course, Van Horstmann's Speculum, Holy Relic and a Sword of Might. The opponent will only get 1 WS 3 attack at strength 3 while the wizard will get all of the opponents attacks at his strength (+1 Str from Sword of Might)

I'd give the lore of shadow a good try. Even the signature spell has a good chance to reduce either the Movement, WS, BS or Iniative by D3 at the low version. If you choose the higher version then all of them are reduced at the same time.

Give it a whirl.

Shadows is very solid. Assuming you are a high LD army, it has arguably the best buff in Mindrazor. Pit of Shades gives it an uber destruction spell. You get two very good debuffs (d3 strength with one and d3 toughness with the other). The signature spell is another nice debuff (I've gotten a lot of mileage out of dropping enemies' WS in a crucial combat).

Some lores have better individual spells, but as a lore Shadow is rock solid.

I think it is all about combo's.

Taking a caster with Lore of Light and another caster with Shadows is great.

Lower peoples strength and then cast net on them.

But I think it highly depends on the army you are playing as well for what works best.

But over all I am going to say Death is the best Lore.

It can kill hero's. And what is the worst thing is a persons army a BSB followed by those other casters and hero's.

Bjuna, and can't remeber the name of the other little spell are great ways to take care of characters with only a couple wound on them.

Also Death is great because of purple sun for those low level INT guys and warmachines.

I think it is a very fun lore to play with and once again if you take out the BSB and General in a couple turns the game is pretty much yours.
