USPS offices in grocery stores

Post by Siegebeast2142 »

Does anyone have any experience using USPS offices inside of grocery stores and the like? I'm in the middle of a trade right now and the guy said he shipped out last Friday, and gave me a tracking number. USPS can't find any information on the tracking number he gave me. I asked him to double check the number, and he said it was right. USPS still can't find any information on the number, just checked not even five minutes ago. He said he shipped priority and that it should have been here on Monday, Tuesday at the latest.

I've done it through office depot or something- generally not as well-versed as USPS, but anything like a tracking number would have been automated. If the number is wrong, it'salmost certainly his fault, not the store's.

Ask him for proof of receipt.

If he cannot do so and it should have arrived by now, you might have to take secondary actions (but let's hope it doesn't come to that).

I agree with 3e (of course).
Ask him to take a picture of the receipt with his phone or a digital camera and PM you the image of the receipt. Take that to your local USPS and ask for assistance.

A grocery store? Unless it's a small 'mom & pop' store, I haven't heard of any 'incentives' offered by USPS in grocery stores. One of the local supermarket chains in my area sells stamps; but that's it. It could be a private mailing store, that rented space, in the larger store.

I have a Yokes near my place that accepts outgoing mail.

The number finally updated. It was a national shipment from the east coast area to west coast area, but the tracking number didn't start tracking until it hit federal way, Washington... One mail stop away from my local Post Office.

Still doesn't answer my question.
Is it a chain through out the state or region?
Is it a super market or is it a small[er] whole foods type of place?

My point is, don't name drop with out a qualifying statement. I easily could have said, "the local Publix sells stamps. I think Winn Dixie does also."
Not everyone in the US and probably no one internationally knows what they are.

Google is your friend. People that actually care will either ask, and investigate given links to satisfy their curiosity, or they will look it up on their own. For instance, I didn't know what Publix was, so I googled it. The very first thing that popped up in a little box, without even having to click on anything was
google wrote:Publix Super Markets, Inc., commonly known as Publix, is an employee-owned, American supermarket chain based in Lakeland, Florida.
Pretty nifty, huh?

Yet, that still doesn't tell how big of a chain it is. Does it cover just Florida? The south east of the US? Is it nation wide?

My point is, a good writer explains not commonly know words or phrases in his writing. Explanation through context.

According to the "STORES" tab on the left side of the linked website, they have a dozen stores.
So, it looks like it's a local "mom & pop" type place that has managed to expand a bit.

That all said... how does that information pertain to this thread?

Thanks.

Gotta' agree with kt- just because a reader can do some light research to find something potentially uncommon doesn't mean the onus should be on them to do so when it'd take 1 sentence to explain it w/o snark.

Everyone on bartertown presumably knows how to use the internet- you don't need to give a lesson.

I believe KT wanted to know due to the grocery store having an USPS store within it. Or at least that is what it originally derived form.
