Need scanner help

Hello,
I have a somewhat odd question I am hoping that someone can help with. Years back I had a lexmark all in one printer / scanner. With this scanner I could place miniatures on the glass and get scans of them showing the full models with a fully black back round. It would even scan blisters fully showing the contents behind the clear plastic as far back as the backing cards. This made it very easy for me to get perfect photos every time with little cleanup needed.
Does anyone happen to know of a current scanner that can do the same thing? I have tried a few models and none have been able to get the depth.
