Best Case + Foam options?

I've been a long time Sabol user, but apparently they went out of business or something (Thanks for taking down your website and your shopping cart system...)
In light of that, what did people shift to? Not interested in the extra expensive custom laser cut foam trays, though.

I just spent a week making my own foam cases from stool foam from Walmart and cardboard. It's messy and not great looking but for storing in my house it works. I've also heard that Walmart and other big retailers sell pistol case foam cheap.

OK, seems I was wrong about Sabol. Their business model isn't doing so hot though.
Anyone had any luck with music equipment cases?

Did they? Or were you being sarcastic about taking down the site?
I'd check out KR Multicase.

Nice products and the owner isn't a total a-hole like some companies <cough>battlefoam</cough>

Agreed. But I will say many people like BF's product. Really hope Sabol isn't going out of business, was about to put an order in. Can anyone confirm they are still operating?

I just got a package today that I ordered about a month ago. DIdn't receive any communication and it was really slow, a lot different than the last time I bought something from them. Not sure if something changed or what.
If they respond to my inquiry email then I'll keep them in the forefront, but I wasn't thrilled with how weird this went down.

Battle Foam is where it's at, guys. Just got my new bag today from them, top notch stuff.
Also cracks me up how so many people hate on Romeo like they know the guy. Just because some rumor website doesn't like him and bad mouths him doesn't mean you should believe it. As someone who actually does know him, he's a good dude.

Who's hating on this guy? My complaint was the silence after I ordered, and having to wonder if things were still plugged in on the other end. The two times before when I bought from them it was much faster and I actually got a receipt as well as tracking numbers. This time I had to check my bank statement to ensure that the website did indeed charge me.
Edit: Oops, didn't see the A-hole charge, my mistake.

It was a general statement. The dude gets a hard rap from the 40k community.

I do actually know him. Met him in person. Chatted with him on the phone several times and have had several extensive email conversations with him. And its not anyone "hating" on him. He has brought all the grief he gets on himself.

Well its a little more than that actually. If you know him and like him then good on you but please don't try to downplay the man's record.
He has, on several occasions, attempted to sue competitors and threaten retailers who sold products like Sabol and others. He had a suit against Outrider Hobbies thrown out because of "peculiarities" in his evidence and he has been less than honest with numerous events.

Do a search for "Battlefoam libel" and you will see the various suits that he has been involved in.
So its not just "some rumor website" it is a wide swath of the community and industry that doesn't like the guy because of the antics he pulls and the efforts he has made to bully people.
And frankly even if his products were the best around I wouldn't send him my money and given how he tries to shaft community events and sites that don't fawn over him I don't think anyone that cares about the gaming community should either.
All that aside, I actually find the Battlefoam products very expensive for what you get. Companies like Sabol and KR make the same product at a much better price.

Thank you for creating a fantastic example for my point. Look at how much time you must have spent on that post; whatever the amount of time, you've now potentially spread discontent about him to someone who might not know him... And why? Do you think you're doing someone a service? A favor maybe?
It's always easy to hate on the successful guy, I guess. Look at GW.
And as an owner of all 3 products (BF, Sabol, and KR) I can honestly say Sabol quality is shite, KR has nice foam that they put in cardboard boxes, and BF has really nice hardshell cases with very nice foam that you can custom create trays for on a website. They aren't all the "same product" but similar products in the same field. Toasty O's are not Cheerios, Sam's Club Cola isn't Coca-Cola, and Sabol isn't Battle Foam.

And you are doing a wonderful job of not addressing the points brought up to rebut your statement. You said that it was "some rumour forum" and its clearly not the case.
If you want to defend your BFF then feel free but at least address the facts brought up.
They aren't all the "same product" but similar products in the same field.
Prevaricate much?
Battlefront sell you an expensive bag with foam that is cut to fit your particular models or suited to a game. If you want a flashy looking bag its a good deal but I suspect that a lot of people just want something to put their minis in so they won't get jostled around. I think that KR do a pretty good job of that. Indeed they do have a lot of foam cases that are just cardboard. But they also sell bags and hardcases that those cardboard cases slip into. So you get a reasonable storage solution in the form of foam and cardboard cases that you can slip into a multi-function bag or hardcase.
I find that this solution works pretty well and it means that you can have one case to carry minis around in and store everything on your shelves in a nice set of stackable boxes.
I have a lot of loose foam trays that I have figs stacked in and I can't tell you the number of times I have dropped them or had a tray slip. Not a problem at all with the KR cardboard cases.

Bah, Battle Foam has cardboard storage boxes too if you want them, but the thread is titled "Best Case" and that's BF, no matter how you shake it. It's not a "solution that works pretty well" but simply the best.

Well as I said, even if I thought he made the best product I wouldn't give him my money. At the very best he has unsavory business practices and a record of trying to weasel out of providing promised prize support for events (the issues that Blood of Kittens raised) and as such isn't a company that I think deserves the communities business.
