I got this in email yesterday.....to funny.. :)

Warhammer 40,000: Psychic Powers

In our recent newsletter about our digital products we made a mistake regarding an update to the Warhammer 40,000 Psychic Powers app.

We said that the new version of the app contained the ability to purchase the new psychic disciplines of Change, Excess and Plague, and all the Psykers from Codex: Chaos Daemons. We also said that there would be an option to connect to your opponent's copy of the app via Bluetooth and track both players' Psykers, giving you instant access to the powers they have available.

These options are not yet available.

We're really sorry if you wanted to download the app to take advantage of them. We'll let you know when the app has been updated and those options become available. However, Warhammer 40,000: Psychic Powers still contains plenty of fantastic features.

For those of you who have not yet experienced it, the app brings the psychic devastation of the 41st Millennium to your iPhone® or iPod touch®. You'll be able to browse through all the psychic disciplines and powers from the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook, and keep track of psychic powers during your Warhammer 40,000 battles.

You can also photograph and name your Psykers, generate powers for each Psyker before the game, and even listen to the sounds of arcing bio-lightning and the screams of the dying as you manifest psychic powers. It's an easy-to-use reference for every psychic power from the rulebook. You can also:

- Search or browse the psychic powers by discipline
- Tap on special rules and keywords for a detailed explanation
- Catalogue your Psykers
- Choose from every unit entry with access to the new psychic disciplines
- Photograph, configure and name your Psykers
- Keep track of your Psykers during games:
- View an at-a-glance summary of each Psyker's powers, Warp Charge and Mastery Level
- Record units under the effect of powers with the camera
- Updated Chaos Space Marine Psykers
- Updated Dark Angel Psykers
- Access to Chaos Space Marine Nurgle, Slannesh and Tzeentch disciplines through in app purchase

Don't forget, you'll still need a copy of the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook and the codex for your army in order to use this app.

The App has been built for iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S, 5 and iPod touch running iOS 5.1 or later. Please note that the full text of powers will only be accessible if you have bought the relevant in-app purchases.

And to think I was always completely annoyed by the huge smelly guy that made sounds and yelled when his psy power worked....now there's an app for it

I got that also, this was my favorite part:
"These options are not yet available.

We're really sorry if you wanted to download the app to take advantage of them. We'll let you know when the app has been updated and those options become available."

Wow, GW releasing something that doesn't work and needs to be fixed, erratta'd or updated. Go figure.

I bought the app when the CSM 'dex came out, only to realize that the CSM powers WERE ANOTHER $5! The app itself is $12. Really? So I complained to Apple and they refunded. I suppose I shouldn't be so surprised.

As much as that sucks, I can see why they do it. I would love to buy a pdf of a codex for cheap, but then the risk of losing book sales is there. By pricing them the same, there is no clear incentive to buy the app or the cards / book - thereby sustaining both markets equally.

So, if you want the psychic powers, you either fork out $12 for cards, or fork out $12 for the app. It would be nice if the cards come with a code or something to unlock the app. Or the codex came with a code for the digital copy of the book, too.

Check out rpg.com. The pdf's of most games are half or less than the price of the printed versions. Most charge for expansions, but not corrections or erratta.
A few offer deals where you can pre-order the printed version and get the pdf for free or cheaper than normal.

Oh I understand their pricing. I was more upset that they didn't include expansion psychic powers, and at the time it did not clearly state in the app's description that they did not include them.

the 'basic' powers should be included or whatever is included in the base set of cards.
all of the expansions for the printed cards are extra. I would guess that the same whould hold true for the extras.

if all you wanted was that 1 expansion, it probably isn't worth buying the entire thing for just a relatively few cards.

I bought just the chaos and csm cards, but not the entire powers sets for either 40k or whfb.
