Stranded at the drive-in...branded a fool. What will they say...Monday at school? Sandy, can't you see, I'm in misery?
But seriously, safe wishes for all of you affected by the storm. Hope you weather it safely.

No power for almost 2 days. No cable or internet for another 2 on top of that. Still little to no gas and groceries to be found locally. And I am one of the lucky ones.

Hope you guys are doing ok up there. I feel your pain being a native of Miami. I suffered through Andrew,Wilma and every other hurricane thats hit South Florida from 1974 to the present and Ive been a Police Officer since 2000 so I dont even get to stay home with my family during these disasters.
After Andrew we had no house...well no roof. Take care.

We were lucky here, but some area still doesn't have power. My kids school district was close because of lack of power at the bus depot...
Our street was okay but the street behind us got 7 trees gone...pretty scary.
Close friends from Staten Island get pretty badly beaten...

south florida resident here also. after jeane and francis, 2 hurricanes within 2 weeks. we were without power 1 week each time. i have a well, so no power ment no water. we left the area, we went north to NC for the 1st storm, and it followed us. we went west to tampa for the 2nd and it followed us.
i had 16 gallons of gas for the 1st storm, so when we got home, i had gas for the generator.
after the 2 storms, laws were passed and alot of businesses, like gas stations, were required to have back up generators. that was in 2004. looks like alot of places along the east coast need to follow the same path.
it took us getting hit hard to learn. hopeully the rest of the east and gulf coasts will learn.

I remember those Hurricanes. I worked every day for a couple of weeks,16 hour days. Luckily my townhouse was on the same grid as a Fire Station so my power was back up quick and I had minimal damage. My Wife had to ride it out alone which I was on Duty during both storms.
