I had a SM whirlwind pack with a couple layers of paint I got in a trade.
It's metal so I dropped into some Pine sol overnight.
When I scrubbed it, it was gummy; sticking to the brush and my fingers.

So I dropped it in again and let it soak for over a week.
It had to be clean now..right? Nope.

Just as gummy. I had no idea how many layers or what kind of paint it was.

I used Goop hand cleaner to clean my fingers & the brushes, so I fuigured..why not?

I so I soaked the model in it. [the Goop is old and liquid, not a cream.]

After several days I checked it. It washed right off. Non-toxic. Safe on hands and actually cleans them.

I'll try it on a plastic model next.

I have been doing a similar 1-2 punch. I use a solvent based cleaner or brake cleaner to soften the paint and then when it is soft hit it with a degreaser or harsh soap and it has been working well.

I recently left a Resin tank in the brake cleaner for a little too long (3 days instead of 2) and it softened it too much. So you have to be careful. The nice thing about resin is that it WILL harden up again, but it does take time.

I left an old style SM tank...armourcast type, in Pin Sol overnight once. When it came out, it was 'wrinkled' like wet skin. [you know, when you keep your hands in water too long.]

Update:
Last night I put 2 spare plastic pieces into the straight Goop.
I just checked them. The inks/washes rinced off but everything else; paint & spray primer; stayed in place.

I'll check again over the next couple days and report the results.

That could be handy... Inks and washes...hmmm

Update.
After anothe 12 hours of soaking.
The paint and spray primer are now soft enough to be scraped/scrubbed away using a thumbnail of wire brush. The toothbrush had little to no effect.

You don't happen to have any scrap resin pieces that you'd be able to dip in that stuff, do you?
What about super glue? Do you have anything superglued that you've tried to clean with that stuff? If so, how does it react with the glue?
