So, I would like to gather opinion on cases (BFD and Sabol).

Hello, Bartertownians (-ites? -icans?)

First off, I hope this is aproprite for this new forum, and being pretty new myself I apologize it not.

Anywho, getting tired of lugging my space marine army around in 3 standard GW cases, a Sterites box and a tackle box. I am looking at one large solution. Sabol and Battlefoam are both very compelling choices, IMO.

Here is what I want to tote:

Landraider X4
Drop Pods x3
Dreadnoughtsx3
Landspeeder X6
Landspeeder Storm
Rhino X4
Razorback X2
Vindicator x 2
Predador X2

I have various troop choices, but these are a non-factor for me.

this information given, I have been measuring the pros and cons of both

Sabol: Looking at he Division. Fits 3600 CI of foam. Overwhelmingly less expensive, but I am not sure how efficient a design they are. AS an example, If I get a 4" thick tray for some land raiders, it seems I cam only store 1 land raider in it. There is more space, but it would be wasted on a model that does not need the height, thus is is less efficient. The cases seems of a lower grade quality.

Battlefoam: looking at the 1520. Fits 4092 CI of foam More expensive, seems to be of better quality. I value a good quality product and do not hesitate in putting forth the money for higher quality as long as I feel I am not wasting my money. That said, it has goodies I don't need, like the display table, so I feel like I am wasting money. The tray will fit 2 land raider plus a 3rd, smaller model as well in the 4" deep tray. I can also have the foam custom cut. With most of my models being 3rd edition, I don't know if their templates will work with my models (such as the size difference in the Rhino based models). A Big Turn off: I have sent two different e-mails asking question, and have received no answers from battlefoam. this makes me nervous about their customer service. Also I should state I am not going to trade in my GW cases to Battlefoam, as I have a large unassembled IG army I will be trying out.

Please, relate your insights and experiences.

Ted

First, I'm SHOCKED that you haven't heard from Battlefoam. They're usually pretty good about responding. I mean, REALLY good.
When did you contact them? Could it just be that Holiday traffic is keeping them preoccupied and behind schedule?
Romeo, the owner, is on DakkaDakka as Sgt. Diablo (Not sure about the spaces, period placement, etc). If you contact him directly there, he'll probably get back to you pretty swiftly.

Also:
That said, it has goodies I don't need, like the display table,
Display table? Are they running some new special, or are you mistakenly thinking their display base is included with a foam case? Their cases don't usually come with the display trays.

Now, onto my opinions:

For my money, it's Battlefoam all the way. Their product is spectacular. It's a VERY high quality. They have guarantees on their items AND their production that nobody else compares to.
Glue isn't right on a tray? They'll replace it. That's a pretty minimal thing to replace a tray over, but they DO.

Also, at the # of models you get per ci, you get a better deal than with pluck foam.

Anecdote alert!!!

I'll probably get BF for my Dark Eldar, but I've got a bunch of Sabol for 3 armies (SM, CSM, Orks). Until recently, it was all pluck foam.
With the pluck foam, I can get spaces for 30 models if (a) I remove ALL of the pluck foam and (b) "hodge-podge" it back together. Even then, I've got a couple models sharing spots.
In a recent Black Friday purchase, I noticed that Sabol is now offering pre-cut foam in that same height. I bought some to see how it compares. It's got 36 spots and the same models fit like a charm (Ork Boyz).
So, by precutting the foam, you can get more models into the same space because, though thinner, your barrier walls hold up better because they aren't held together by the far more tenuous little bits that hold together the pluck foam columns.

For my money, it's Battlefoam.

Thanks MM. As usual, the verbal assault you unleash on the post gets at least +3 on the Thread Damage Table.

Alsoi yuu are correct- the display is not included

As a follow up, I received a PM on another forum from an employee of Battlefoam who graciously volunteered to answer any questions I may have.

Yeah, but you didn't answer my question about the display tray. You've SERIOUSLY got me interested.

I've been watching the thread you started about this on Dakka, as well. Aside from people who are just *opposed* to BF in any way, shape or form, you're getting good input there, too.

I thought I answered it? It doesn't come with one.

:-D

Anyway back OT.

I'd like to point out that I've had a Battlefoam bag for a while and I love the thing. A pack 420. I put my Blood Angels army into it that previously took up a Sabol case, a GW case and a Razorback box lid. My friends at my LGS looked at me like I was insane when they heard how much it was till they saw the quality and amount that it held. If you have to decide between Sabol and Battlefoam, sped the little extra and get the Battlefoam.

I recently sent a request for a foam set for my daemons to the battlefoam, I got a very limited response, I'll have to bug one of them on a forum, :)
