Epic questions: Chaos, Orks

Hello,
I'm thinking of trying out Epic with some friends and I have run into some snags. I'd always thought about the game back when it was popular but I was too hung up on 25-28mm to give it a shot. I'm pretty impressed that it seems like most races can still get about 1,000 points worth of infantry for $25 direct for GW. Doesn't seem like the steal that older epic sprues appear to have been, but its still cheap for the hobby.
Chaos questions: I was wondering if anyone knows where the "official" chaos lists were printed? They aren't in the GW "Epic Resources" pdfs, so I just wondered if they were floating around the net somewhere, or if someone can point me to the issue of whatever mag they were in and I'll find a used copy. I'm planning on just using the currently available plastic infantry box and re-painted Imperial tanks and titans, is this practical?
Ork questions: how strict are people when it comes to WYSIWYG in this game? I've read what the pdf's have to say about the "counts as rule" but I 'm concerned. I think I'm going to use the feral ork list because I'm trying to recreate the look of late 1st/early 2nd edition 40k, and I prefer boarboyz, squiggoths and orkeosaurus above all else. However, I hate the junka-trukk models and love the old bonebreaka, skullcrusha (etc. etc.) type of ork models, and so I was going to make a "Blood Axe" formation that uses repainted rhinos, and a "Bad Moon" formation that uses a variety of regular ork tanks as its trukks. In other words, my feral orks would count anything with wheels or treads as a junka-trukk, and they'd be painted orky. How tolerant are people of scratch-built Epic models? The Orkeosaurus in particular seems made for such a project.
