OK. Forge World sells them. The Imperial Armour books have stats for them.
Where does it say we can use them?
As a CSM player, I tired of get spammed by SM, nids & even Necrons from drop pods and monoliths.
I have 1 choice of LR. A couple dreads. A vindi. A predator with some weapon swaps.
I'm thinking about buying a csm drop pod or scratch building 1. the codex doesn't say they're allowable, does it actaully say that in the IA?
Same with heavy vehicles.. I'm getting a converted super heavy tank to a csm vehicle. stats are available.. but where does it say I can use thme?
I have scanned the apoc rules, is it in there?

They are not codex legal vehicles (for now. I hope that will change with the August or October rumored codex).
Dreadclaw Drop Pods are an imperial Armor vehicle. I can't speak for 6e but, in 5e, they blew pretty hard (IMO). I played them ONCE and swore to never play them again with the same rules.
That was pre-apocalypse, of course, and I think their rules changed with Apoc. Also, they come in via normal reserve rules, not like SM drop pods.
Same with the converted superheavy. It is an Apoc only item (per Apoc rules). I don't have the current rulebook handy to check and see if Super heavies are allowed in 6e for regular games, but I haven't seen anything that I recall.
Sixth edition is the shooting edition, IMO. If you're worried about heavy vehicles, take a shooting heavy army and just glance them to death.

I'm working on a shooting army.. but vs nids, psyker, wounds, swarm or large; or the SM with it's all dp or lr/vindi are tough with csm.. my emp children only have 1 weapon that can do anything vs armor, blastmaster. the LR, pred or oblits get targeted & gunned down instantly.
the 1000 sons have no heavys..so it's mixed gods.. trying slaanish icons on everythign.. at elast they're faster than or equal to most in HtH.
gonna have to find my apoc rules..a nd reloaded too.

Hmm.
Sounds like your lists are cult lists.
Yeah, if you're not willing to take non-cult units in the army, those are all going to have problems with armor.
My suggestion, for what it's worth, is to look at heavy infantry (Havoks, IIRC?), Obliterators and heavy vehicles (Vindicators, Defilers & Predators).
Then again, rumor is that a new codex is dropping. Initial rumors said August, but I have heard as late as October. So, with the codex dropping as soon as it is, you might want to just tough it out until you see the changes.

I have oblits, preds.. the get targeted of have dp on the 1st turn.
same with my LR. same with my defiler.
that's the problem, i can't field as many heavy/anti heavy units, even mixing troops as other armies, especially SM.
That's also been my biggest complaint; chaos has forgot how to build all of the vehicles that sm can?
They can't find or create a deamon that does the same? nids can.. chaos can't?
At least in RT you could mod/convert it and pay the points & use the same rules. From 2nd ed on. no. But at least in 2nd ed, deamosn were part of chaos/csm, were bad @$$3$ and feared. now they've suked and only with 6th ed can the be used as worthwhile [trusted] allies.

Before Chaos was comparatively too weak to play, I always fielded two units of 2 (sometimes 3) Obliterators and a las Predator. Sure, they absorbed fire, but I rarely ever had them all killed off in before turn 4. For me, it was always about presenting multiple threats. If you've got them worried about CSM getting into their lines, they forget about the heavies. If you have them concerned about Heavies, your CSM get into their lines.
If, on the other hand, you have them worried about both, then they typically split their fire and it works out better.
I also focus on the things they have that can most easily take out my "precious" units (greater than S7 for Oblits and S8+ for the Predator).
I agree re: forgetting how to make vehicles (in spirit). Since they're not actually making more Rhinos, etc., but using old ones, refitting captured SM versions and fixing the old ones, per fluff (for the vehicle types they share with SM), I don't think of it as "making new ones," but they could sure as heck be capturing and fixing up some SM vehicles they don't already have!

my last game i had 2 units of 2 oblits, they got chomped by the bugs barages. my lr was eaten by his bigger bugs.
vs sm, in the game before that my lr got stopped by dp w/ dread on turn 1. right in front of me with nowhere to go. it tied up the lr untill i destroyed the dread.. emp. children & 1 sorcer took awhile.
my pred was taken out by his lr & speeder.

Sounds like you were pretty seriously outgunned by the SM.
Can't really speak for the Nids without knowing more. How long did they last?
You don't happen to have your army list and the ones you played against, do you? CSM have a HUGE problem being competitive in the current codex environment, and 6e wasn't especially kind to them when it nerfed all vehicles, but I would enjoy looking over your lists and comparing them to successful lists I've run in the past (5e lists, admittedly).

I got ganked again tonight. SW sm.. 5 dp. 2 come in 1st turn, last 3 on turn 2.. wtf can I do vs them, especially when 2 have dreads in them. they land on you or just behind you. I can't even roll for my reserves until turn 2. so sm can get dreads across the board on turn 1.
then this was sw so they have bonuses vs psykers, ignore terrain when on puppies and get all the bonueses of sm..
i'm starting to see why i left 40k before.

Maybe it'll get better for you after the new codex drops.

until CSM gets fixed, I'll try some old skool, like luna wolves or sons of horus.
1 guy has something that's almost BA, but was stuck in the warp forever.
since they all use coffee cans or large soda cups & such for dp, wtf, so can I.

Drops... PODS!!!

Ba-dum tish, thank you very much, I'll be here all week.
But in all seriousness, kturok, I feel ya. I'm hoping the new Chaos Codex feels more just like renegade space marines. After reading a bunch more lore and what not, they just seem more space marineey ish, with a few added things and changes. If that's a word.

after reading on rumors on warseer, if the csm can be marines then ok.. otherwise I'll really be pissed.
we all know that the SM is GW's favorite son, but csm has been screwed for awhile.

It'd just be nice to see some variation. I mean CSM fluctuate from something like the Word Bearers or Death Guard, who are long far gone from the legions they were 10000 years ago, but something like the Night Lords are functioning normal marines. Using drop pods, and what not.
