New Necrons

Anybody seen the leaked pics of the new Necrons? I think overall they are a VERY strong release. The command barge and the HQ choices are probably my favorites. The Lychguard equipped shields and swords are pretty cool, too. The bulkiness makes them look like little walking tanks.
The only thing I absolutely don't like are the new flayed ones. I think they look HORRIBLE and whoever green-lighted those sculpts needs to be shot. The strips of flesh are so thick and chunky and the one with a corpse strapped to his back looks like the sculptor copied that one VC crypt ghoul torso. I'm happy I have ten of the soon to be retired metal variants because they are so much better.

Quality and detail-wise, I think they are really nice models (minus the flayed ones). However, I dislike the direction they seem to be going. Tomb Kings...IN SPACE! Bleh. TK's are my least favorite faction in Warhammer Fantasy by far, and to make the menacing, unstopable Necrons into the pharoh-looking boneheads annoys me. Hopefully their codex will be a decent one.

I've seen the leak for the unit details, but no pics.
Got links?

I was checking it out over on Dakka

That is the only place I have seen it, although I have not gone looking for them at all. It looks like the original info came from BeastsofWar, which I don't think I have ever visited.

The same pics are linked to on Warseer, too.

On Warseer though, there is a lengthy compilation of rules rumors.

I really like the way the new models look and the rules rumors are interesting as well. I get a sorta Stargate feel for these guys for some reason.
I'll probably end up getting some to see how they paint up and if I like painting them, I could see that evolving to a full army.

maybe the Space Egyptians thing?
Some look really good, a bunch look pretty lame (the stumpy 3-person floaty thing, some command, etc.), though. Probably not a fit for me, maybe if they get some cool resculpts, and then only with some GS work.

I think they look cool as Hell.
If it wasn't for the fact that I'm still finishing up my DE and don't want to drop the kind of coin into them that GW's charging (even with the 20% off available online), I'd be forced to pick some up.
I suspect I'll be needing this Codex, as I will likely be seeing them often in my group. There will probably be 2 armies of them.

I will be putting together a small army. I will be probably be getting about 6 of the new barges depending on points cost (im thinking 60-75 points). I think they will be pretty strong. Proabably about 40 str 4 shots out of each of them with armor 13 until they get pen'd. Sounds pretty good. 4 Transports and 2 Big guns. I dont think anymore than 1 monolith Maybe a few HW Destroyers, and maybe 6 Wraiths.
I think they are going to be a weird mix of DE and SM play styles. Lotsa movement but also a lot of pillboxes. I feel there is going to be variety of strong army builds.
Cant wait to see what FW will bring to the table.

I quite like them, especially the current evolution. They've always been tomb kings in space (since 2nd ed, Gorkamorka, and BfG) so it's nice to see them get some extra detail and not just be carbon copies of the T100.
Since I already have a mammoth Necron force, I'll probably get enough of the new releases to field units I don't already have. I'm definitely not letting my pariahs, immortials, flayed ones, etc just collect dust.

I would definitely keep your old Flayed Ones in use as the new ones look like crap.

Flayed ones /w 3 attacks base for 13 points apiece...insane and they can be taken in groups of 20...I think they will be in big demand.

They probably improved the rules after they saw how crappy the new models looked.

So I've been reading over the Necron codex and does anyone else think GW was stupid for releasing that single Cryptek in fineca$t? That royal court is pretty awesome and there are a TON of equipment options for the Lords and Crypteks. GW should have released a box like the Empire Wizard plastic kit. You'd be able to make two models out of the kit, either two lords, two crypteks, or a combination of the two. You'd also get at least one of each bit needed to outfit the models in any of their legal variations. (TONS of bits for the bit box to customize your other characters.) That single model is a joke. There are no extra parts in the blister, right? GW doesn't even have the decency to post pictures of the weapons in the books for those who might want to try converting them. (Although I could see that being foresight and not giving the after market indie studios clear ideas of what to make as add-on kits.)
