Announcing : Grey Knights in April!

New "Incoming" article on the Games Workshop website.. (and you need to have an account to see it, alas)

However, copy/pasted for your reading pleasure...
Games Workshop Website wrote:Incoming: Grey Knights
— Article by Adam Troke

As the Emperor prepared for his final confrontation with the traitor Horus, he granted one final gift to Mankind, a safeguard and protection against the horrors of the Warp - the Grey Knights. A brotherhood of warriors as elite as they are secretive, the Grey Knights are a shining line of silvered steel that stands between humanity and the Daemons of Chaos.

Trained as the mightiest paragons of mental fortitude and martial discipline in the Imperium, the Grey Knights maintain a vigilant watch for daemonic incursion, responding wrathfully against the scions of the Dark Gods, and those who dally with them.

Clad in baroque Terminator armour and wielding powerful weapons such as storm bolters and Nemesis force weapons, the Grey Knights tear through the enemy, unleashing an onslaught of psychic powers and sorcery to sunder the foe.

The Grey Knights are an unstoppable force, the manifestation of the Emperor's will, valiant warriors who willingly sacrifice their own humanity so that Mankind itself can endure.

This April Games Workshop releases Codex: Grey Knights, alongside a comprehensive range of fantastically detailed Citadel miniatures. Although details are being kept firmly under wraps for now, you can expect an exciting selection of plastic kits to enable you to build your own Grey Knights army.

Over the coming weeks we'll be releasing more details both here on the Games Workshop website and also in the pages of White Dwarf - to ensure you're the first to get the news, make sure you subscribe to the Games Workshop newsletter and keep an eye on the What's New Today blog.

Actually, there IS one really HUGE bit of info for fluff fans in there. It's never been confirmed how or when the Grey Knights were founded in any of the old literature as far as I know. So saying they were founded by the Emperoro himself before he fought Horus is huge. It sort of implies the Emperor knew he was going to wind up on the Golden Throne and humanity would need the Grey Knights because of it.

Well.. there is implication in the HH novel "Flight of the Eisenstein" that the High Regent Malcador took a couple of surviving Marines and got the Grey Knights/Inquisition started. That was close to the beginning of the full fledged Heresy.. so there was certainly time to establish the Knights..

However, this is pure supposition on my part.

I am really excited and worried at the same time. I imagine the new models will look great, and hopefully the codex treats them well. My only concern is that the new GKs will look different in either size or general appearance. I am thinking of the first generation of GK Terminators as compared to the current versions. They were so very different looking, and I really hope they do not do that this time around. If it is just the current style in plastic, then I shall rejoice and partake of much "happy dancing".

That would be awful. Unless Sisters of Battle came out in April and GKs came out in May. As long as one army I collect is coming out relatively soon, I can be happy.

According to conversations with Jes Goodwin the SoB are apparently on the back burner because he can't figure out how to do them in plastic. You know how they have bits of robe around their upper arms? That bit of fabric is the reason he's having difficulties. How to give plastic SoB multi-pose arms without having those robe bits look goofy sticking out at weird angles is the alleged problem. That's from information on Warseer who had a smoke with Jes at some event so take it with a grain of salt. Personally, I find it believable.

@ HZ : Sounds like a reasonable explanation. Personally, I like the current mono-pose figures. However, I realize that most people like to have a goodly variety in their armies. With both of the Hunters armies, my biggest worry is that some of the more fluffy portions will be removed or lessened so greatly that they will be unrecognizable. Inquisitors, Penitent Engines, and some of the more bizarre units like Repentia and Arco's are a large reason I collect the armies.

All we can do is wait and see (and cross fingers of course).

Maybe even make the GK worth fielding. They've been overpriced vanilla marines for so long. The have uses vs deamons and psykers and that's it.

Finally!!!

Can't wait to see what they give them. They have been over priced yet so cool for so long they deserve some love.

I just hope they don't do away with GK's in power armor. The fact they specifically state terminator armor has me a bit concerned. I own 30 of them so it would suck to not be able to use them!

Ditto Crazybones. Ideally, I would like the new GK codex to have all of the stuff already in it, with some fancy new items, at more appropriate points costs. I imagine that is asking a lot as I have read the rumor that Daemonhosts are going away but I don't own any, so I am not too bothered by it. I really like the Inquisitional Stormtroopers and the power armor GKs as well. Great models and really should be included. I only have 10 of the STs, but I think I have roughly 30ish of the PAGKs (everything is in storage at the moment).

My quest for 100 GK terminators is nearly complete though. Now to save up the cash to get them all painted, lol.

I hope that they actually make an army that Stormtroopers are actually worth fielding again. I do not think it will be this book though. It is supposed to be only GK.

Interesting catch there with them ONLY mentioning Termie armor.

I can't seem them cutting the PA GKs maybe only the Termie GKs will be considered "Knights" and the PA guys will be Squires or Initiates or something else fluffy.

This also has me concerned. The current codex is Daemonhunters but this shows Grey Knights. I was would mad as hell if I couldn't field an Inquisitor!
