Hey B-town.
Its been sometime since Ive been active here. Well I have a favour to ask. I have a large IG army thats been collecting dust, my goal is to sell it but I need as much money as possible. Since I have been out of the loop for sometime ive realized some of these models which were new at the time are now oop! My request is to get constructive criticism in regards to what this army would be worth. I would appreciate any feedback and any selling advice would be great! I hope this is in the right section of the forum. Lets assume everything is assembled and primed unless noted.

Re: What is my IG army worth. Warning**Its a long list**
Well, the easy answer is, I can't tell you within even a large range what your army is worth. There are several reasons for this. First is that anything subjective. Something I think is worth a $1000 might not even be worth $100 to someone else and vice-versa. Second, what condition are all of the models is? I mean a detailed description of each model. Third, back up that detailed description with pictures. Without some pictures we have no frame of reference. You can go around saying the army is painted to a professional level, but without pictures how do we know what that means? For example, there's all sorts of people on eBay who advertise "Pro Painted" when I know my pet guinea pig could probably paint better than what they're offering.
So yea, to start, try and at least come up with answers for points two and three before you ask a question like this and we *might* be able to give you a rough guesstimate.

In the description I wanted to assume everything is assembled and primed unless noted. I understand it may be hard to give a for sure amount. I just want a rough guesstimate. What is the value of so many models and what kind of collector would be interested. Im sorry if its vague I just want to keep it that way so people dont have to look at every detail. This is not for sale as of yet...It will be painted to a very high standard but for now I want to see if its worth putting so many man hours into it.
Thanks for any feedback

good luck with that. If it is bare/primed now.. it MIGHT be worth the same with a high detail paint job on it. I have RARELY seen anything go for MORE than retail with a paint job on.
You may indeed be better off deciding to let it go in the condition it is in as opposed to investing painting time for little return.
A good "ballpark" amount to think is .. bare and primed stuff might get you 60-66% retail.. (and that is current retail).. you might get closer to 80% retail depending on when you purchased your stuff. Basilisks, for example, are currently $41.. and you might find a buyer for them at the $25 level.. but you might have picked them up new when they were 30.. KWIM?
your intent is to move it all at once.. so you might want to consider shipping costs into the bargain. Whole Army lots with Free US Shipping get more attention than not.
Also, with your conversions, Pictures Are Important! and.. when you list blisters or boxes of figs.. like "Vostroyan Troopers 2" .. does that mean 2 troopers, or 2 blisters of guys?
AAANNDD one last thing to think about.. are you thinking of splitting it out, or selling as a whole? You might make more cash selling it parted out (Tanks and Praetorians come to mind) .. but you run the risk of getting stuck with some items that will not move.

2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

Thanks Pork....
This confirms my thoughts....I figured I piece it out in small lots. Whatever is left ill paint for hobby reasons and see if it sells after that.
As for the vostroyans in blisters...thats the amount of blisters there are no individual troops. thanks for the heads up on that.

I would start with the prices given on GW online store. Deduct 20-30% for bare metal/unassembled models and 40-50% for primed/assembled models. Deduct an additional 10% for models that are painted.
Also need to note which Commissar Yarrick, commissar, and ratling snipers models they are; and if the Gaunts Ghosts models have any of the special GG's characters in them.

On this site, it's not worth painting.peejmode wrote:assume everything is assembled and primed unless noted.

On feeBay, you should paint them as well as possible, take excellent pictures, and sell in several squad-sized lots.

I agree that you should not bother to paint them.
Like many others here I would be very unlikely to pay more than 65% of retail for bare metal figs. Painted figs at any level would be much less.
