Selling WD mags

Post by bluemeenie »

Is there really a market for this?

I have like almost a complete set from low 100's to just over 300 and most are in really perfect condition with all the special cards and stuff still in them, but really don't think they are worth anything..

I see people trading/selling them here, but don't really know if there are takers...me they are taking up space :D

Look around and see if they are in any price/collectible guides.

I know my local store tries to sell OOP White dwarfs for cover price.. he has a HUGE pile and just is NOT moving them.

I see folks here offering them for 50 cents an issue.. and generally killer shipping cause those are heavy.

Check out the "Completed" auctions on Ebay.. that might give you a good ballpark for how much people think they are worth.
2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

I use the Unofficial Porkuslime Trading Guidelines - if you have way less refs.. you ship first.

Folks I am awaiting a ref from.. Zack

You really don't see a big demand for them outside of someone wanting a specific issue because it has to do with whatever army or specialist game they are interested in.

Case in point - see this wanted ad: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=96217

I recently unloaded all of my spares for .25 each plus shipping just to get rid of them all. The box was nearly 40 pounds in weight, but was still only $20 or so.
I had initially priced them at $1 each but went to .25 each for the whole lot.

Remember that you can ship magazines as Media Mail from the USPS. So the shipping usually isn't killer even you if you have to divide them amongst a few packages.

Actually, it's always better to send your items in one package, as far as costs go.

One 69 pound box (12x9x24) <--- just made the dimensions up on the spot----, for example, costs $28.90 to send from MO to CA via Media mail.
Three packages at 23 pounds each (12x9x8 -- 1/3 the weight AND box size) cost $10.96 each. That's a total of $32.88. Nearly $4 more.

Actually, Blackspade unloaded all of those WD mags and a bunch of quarterlies to me and I couldn't be any happier 8) .

I hate the fact that they went up in price this summer too. Half the mag tends to be adverts and then there's not a solid focus for my interests. I'll gladly take old WD when I can afford them in a lot / bulk.
