What MMO's do people play?
Hello
In my spare time I play 40k and online RPG's.
I'm wondering what MMO's people play... I'm trying to find in game buddies. Who I find on here might influence my decision on what MMO to play next. I just don't know where else to post, this is pretty much the only site I frequent. I know somebody was on WAR a while back, here.
I currently just paid for month's worth of EVE online, and have been playing World of Warcraft, but I didn't pay for it this month.
Any takers?
-Zack

Re: What MMO's do people play?
Last one I played was WAR when it was first released, but unfortunately that one only managed to hold my attention for a couple of months due to lack of content and overall restrictive game play
I am however looking forward to Mortal Online which is due out Dec 22. It has potential to be a very interesting game with loads to do.

I did play World of Warcraft for a time, but now I'm thinking of getting back into it. Just trying to fight my Battle.net account...

Re: What MMO's do people play?
Was playing Champions Online, just set my account up for non-renewal. [superheroes]
I'm currently playing on a buddy key for Fallen Earth. I'm not sure if I'll buy it our not. [post-apoc]
I've played, WoW, but won't renew/restart since my account got hacked, on thier side. The game was unistalled and the account was cancelled for almost 12 monthes when the restricted then banned the account.
I've played, Conan, CoH/V, LotR, EQ1 &2, DaoC, and it's clone Warhammer, DDO, and ohters that i've ether played in beta or trail versions and who's names I don't recall. I think EVE is about the only one I haven't tried. It just doesn't sound like something I'd be interested in. OH yeah, Star Wars, any of it's incarnations. I was accepted into beta the day after I cancelled DSL for financial reasons.
After over 10+ years, I grind out quickly.
I wish, somehow Shane Hensley could get the $$ to make Savage Worlds an MMO. Like NWN. Have the creators toolbox come with a deluxe edition. The standard edition would just be players rules. Have the base game come with one of the original titles, maybe even Deadlands: Reloaded. Then have expansions, like meta-creator does, for the other worlds.
SW lends itself adventure creation alot better than NWN did, the rules are better/easier.
OK. who wants to set up a bank account to get the $6 mil in donations Shane said he'd need to set DL:R MMO; it should be about the same for my idea. I wish I had the programming skills to even start this, but, I can barely type.

Re: What MMO's do people play?
That list that Kturock put forth, Well it is about the same for me, except that I never played EQ1 or 2.
I'm currently not playing any MMO, mostly becuase of time, and the ones that I really liked died and are no longer running.
The last game I truely enjoyed was Fallen Earth. I was also part of the beta and really enjoyed the setting. The game has alot of potential, however they do need to tighten a few things up, and get more money sinks in the game.
I just got off of Aion, I'm not a grinder and after level 20 that is all the game really is. Warhammer online was, imho, one of the better games out there if everyone would stop queing up for the battlegrounds and actually play the game, it is really annoying when you are doing a PQ and half the group dissapears because thier BG popped

Re: What MMO's do people play?
I haven't played in a LONG time (about 18 months?), but I used to spend a few hours a week on Urban Dead:
http://www.urbandead.com/
It's a free MMO. Nothing like the pay sites. It's a fun little diversion. You're limited to the # of Action points you can use per character and per IP each day. The IP limit can be easily bypassed (I used to run 7 characters @ 30Ap each, almost daily). AP refresh @ 1 per hour.
They also have a Wiki site. I suggest that you play one of 2 ways...
1) Start as a Zombie until you learn the ropes. Then, before trying to get revivified (brought back to life), check out the Wiki.
2) If you're starting as a survivor, check out the Wiki first.
As a survivor, it's important (if you want to STAY alive) that you learn how to read the map on the wiki page and keep to the "living controlled" areas.

Lower rating? You ship first.

To get some humor out of life and pass it on to other folk.
I think what this situation needs is some imagination.

Re: What MMO's do people play?
I actually started playing EVONY a few weeks bad... I kept seeing the massive amount of online advertising for it and wondered what the hubub was about. It is kinda boring and REALLY slanted to make you pay for the ability to progress. It is one of those games that you decide to build a barracks or a town hall then it builds for the next 2 days of real time while you WAIT. It is taxing to play, but at least I can play for 15minutes here and there and still progress albeit slowly.
I would give it a 3 out of 10, for fun factor, and is pretty repetitive, it is severely aggravating that they make you have to pay real money for the ability to expand. If it was $5 here and there I wouldn't mind, but it is like $25 here and then $50 there. Which I cant believe people actually pay. It isn't THAT fun. But what can i say i am still playing it.

I currently play World of Warcraft and when one of my nieces pesters me, I'll log into Wizard 101 and play with them.
I've tried out most every game out there, but Warcraft is the only one that keeps my attention for more than a month at a time.

If you don't have your Location listed in your User Control Panel, why not take a second and update it? It will let your trading partners know where you are from the beginning.

Re: What MMO's do people play?
Eve is exactly like that- real time skill development. I'm not sure I'm into it all that much yet, but if you like space battles Norse- its a better bang for your buck IMO. Ever tried BFG? Star Wars/B5 etc? Kinda like that, massed fleet battles included even. It's really not that bad.Norseman wrote:I actually started playing EVONY a few weeks bad... The advertising for Evony is obnoxious. And their biggest selling point in these ads, beyond all the slutty women in the pictures (that I'm guessing have nothing to do with the game), is that its "Free to play forever". The fact that its not really shoudl give you an indication as to what kind of people the owners of that game are. I won't try it, sorry.
Thanks for all the responses!

EDIT: Norseman- Eve is only $15 a month, and thats it. MUCH better bang for your buck. I forgot to emphasize.

I've head good things about Champions online. I've never heard of Fallen Earth or Planetarion/Unity Wars. Or Urban Dead, but zombies bore me. I will definitley check those out however.
I've sent a few replies to people on WoW, I'm thinking of digging back into that. WAR looks like it won't hold my interest like everyone tells me. I'm getting more and more into EVE Online.
KT- Most programmers can barely type. I think you'll fit right in.

Good you don't want to get in to WAR. It is dying fast. They really screwed that game up.bluegreenhello wrote:I've head good things about Champions online. I've never heard of Fallen Earth or Planetarion/Unity Wars. Or Urban Dead, but zombies bore me. I will definitley check those out however.
