we could sart one :-D :-D

JK folks. I think I have traded or talked about a trade with gwaddict. Never had a problem. If someone is mad because there was a communication breakdown or life happened than perhaps they are in a Fantasy world themselves.
In an act of kindness and respect, please respond to PMs one way or the other with in a timely manner.

That's my opinion, anyway- I've always thought having the ability to turn off signatures was a bad idea.
Some sigs are worse than others--we're pretty restrained here, as a group, but I'm sure we've all been on other forums where sigs ought to be banned.

Personal trading rules contained in sigs are non-binding, so while you certainly can apply your sig rules, you can't expect others to observe them. Well--you can, but you're certain to meet with disappointment.

I'm curious, FP--what do you expect when people contact you? Any offer at all? Or the right offer?

I ask, because as a 99% buyer, I generally expect a seller to have an idea of the price they want, and I'm often concerned that if I offer the wrong price, I won't get any response.
I am always in the market for weird and wonderful GW oddbitz and ephemera. PM me if you have something old/weird/rare.

I'll listen to any offer and, if need be, make a counter-offer. I very rarely just respond with "not interested", though it does happen. I make sure I take the time to respond to every message that's not, as I state in the signature, a question just asking how much. I stopped responding to those because I've found it much easier to have the would-be trader approach me with the price they want to pay (or trade) and go from there.

"Hey, I'm interested in your unit of Trenchers- I was thinking $30 and shipping for the lot"- Ok, we can haggle.
"How much for your Trenchers?" "Hey there, I'm looking for $30"- know how often that conversation continues? 1 out of 10, if that.

I hope that makes sense, my brain is working faster than my fingers lately.
Do I owe you a trade ref? Remind me- sometimes I forget!
Awaiting trade refs from: tristym, yazaran

If you don't have your Location listed, take a second and update it!

-I respond within 48 hours unless utterly incapable. Please do the same. Any offer I make stands for that long as well.
-Lower rating? You ship/pay first. Same goes for me.

'How Much for...?' messages will no longer be replied to at all. I've been nice about it, now I'm done.

I'll ask if someone has a price point in mind that they are looking for if I send an inquiry to a seller, and then go from their response.

On another site, I had the stipulation "please don't ask how much for", but make an offer instead. I regularly received emails of "how much for", but would always reply. One time it went like this:

Him: How much for these books?
Me: What kind of price are you interested in paying?
Him: Well what kind of price are you hoping to get?
Me: I'm hoping to get as much as I can for them. I'm assuming you are hoping to pay as little as you can. If you'd like to make an offer, we can see if we meet somewhere in the middle.

He never responded.

I'm fairly certain we spoke with the same trader.

What I can't stand are traders who get a good back-and-forth negotiation going and then drop off the face of the planet...even going so far as to read your PMs but not reply.

Anyone can see when you've read a PM, it's really easy. So don't think you're being super sneaky when you don't reply to multiple PMs.
Trading Guidelines:
1. Lower rating ships first - even if I am purchasing.
2. If you agree to buy something, you have 72hrs. in which to pay. If payment is not received in 72hrs., I will automatically post a Non-Payment/Backout thread.
3. Refs are left upon positive receipt of goods, NEVER beforehand!
4. I accept Paypal & USPS money orders and charge for shipping AT COST. I make no profit from it.
5. I trade NIB/new models at retail.

Veterans can be crusty too. :)
Truth! Probably my second or third trade post on Bartertown a VERY high rated user sent me a PM telling me he wanted something I was selling, but he would only pay 50% of the retail value. I had already listed the model at 40% off, but apparently that wasn't good enough for him. So I responded back that 40% was as low as I'd go and he shot back a response that I should just accept his offer as I wasn't going to get what I was looking for. Basically he was super vet and I was a total noob so I should just roll over and take whatever he said was fair. I didn't even bother responding and, the next day, I got another vet who accepted my price point! That said, the vet who tried to snow me DOES have a reputation for being a bit of a jerk, but he isn't around much anymore. 99% of the time I found dealing with vets to be MUCH better than dealing with other low rated traders, but there is always that one exception.

Lower rating? You ship first.

Give me a sense of humor Lord. Give me the grace to see a joke.

I think what this situation needs is some imagination.

When people come here they expect others to be infallible

Just had a trader inquire about my dystopian wars, I offered them (which I never do for exactly this kind of reason) to him at a percentage off of retail. He wanted to know how much that would be so I went to one of my old lists and tallied em all up. Apparently I was off on the FSA carriers I thought they were 23.99 each when in fact they are 19.00 each. So he comes back says that hes is going to pass on the whole lot cause if I am off that far on my numbers for those how could he believe the rest of them and that what I offered was a "rip off". Best part is when I went to a site to check out prices only the carriers were overpriced, everything else was underpriced, end result retail went up from $312 to $320  so I guess I should thank him :-D
Rules
1. I do my best to communicate & ship in a timely matter & expect the same
2. If you or I back out of a trade expect the other to post so in the b/o forum etc, if thats not okay then I am not your man to trade with
3. An offer of "$25" for an item does not include s&h if you are not okay with actual shipping charges from the USPS on top of that then say "$25 incl s&h".. simple enough..
4. Please be polite, leave feedback

Ain't that the truth. People are human, humans sometime make mistakes. No biggie, just move on.

But hey - sounds like it worked out for you in the end!
