Colossal Sized Dragon

Post by gardenninja »

Ok, this one wasn't a commission.

In my Iron Kingdoms RPG group, I'm pretty much always in charge of the minis.

We've started up an Epic Level Campaign, in which we'll be fighting against some Dragons (and in IK, they all have to be massive Forge-World sized minis).

So, I could have bought a $500 Forge World dragon or $200 on the Wizards of the Coast dragon. But instead, I went ahead and picked up a $20-$30 resin dragon from an Asian gift store at our local mall. After basing and repainting her, I think she turned out pretty well:

I actually picked up a second one, but I haven't gotten around to painting him up just yet.

WOW! That is a fantastic looking dragon. Great color scheme on the dragon.

Host sh**.
Very nice looking model.

Good decision on the model choice, too. What's the name of the gift shop? Is it a chain, or...?

It might have been called "Gifts from Asia" or "Gift of Asia" or something like that. It was located in the local shopping mall.

I'm pretty sure the one I went to was locally owned. They sell fairy statues and lots of different kinds of dragons (a lot of them can't be repainted due to glitter/crystal balls/etc.).

That said, I've definitely seen a lot of their dragons at other gift shops, so they aren't impossible to find elsewhere.

Actually, if you're ever looking to do another dragon, check this out.

It's a pre-order because the guy doesn't know when he'll have it finished, but he's been plugging along at it steadily. I have one on pre-order.

Rock on. I love what Andy does with Heresy miniatures.

I actually went ahead and picked up a Vizeralyn (Valiant Miniatures Oracle Dragon by Sandra Garrity). It is a pretty epic mini, sitting at 2 feet tall.

It is probably going to be the final encounter of the campaign. I have not started painting it yet, so it will likely be a long campaign.

By the way, I have scale photos now:
