Backout: Stonedog

Post by randall3rd »

I've never filed a Deadbeat report before even though I have had numerous backouts,

but this one just ticked me off nicely. I would advise everyone to stay far away from

Ken (Stonedog). He didn't tell me he changed his mind or anything of the sort, just

stopped responding.

At first he said he definitely wanted a few Circle of Orboros items I had, and then after addresses had been exchanged he informed me that he already had them.
Then he said

he wanted my Malifaux rulebook and fate deck and addresses were exchanged again, deal

was made and money order was supposedly sent. I contacted him after 10 days because I

had not received it yet, and he responded by saying he would put a tracer on it and

get back to me in 3 days. That was over a week ago and he has been ignoring my PM's

even though he is online frequently and reading my PM's, even posting for sale ads.

Our conversation as follows:

Hello!

I want:

Circle of Orboros
Morvahna the Autumblade (new in box) $5
Argus x2 (bare metal, partially assembled) $6 each

I need to send a MO though......

I will ship first and it will be a USPS MO.

Please give me a total to ship to 40006 in Kentucky.

THANKS!

Ken

Hey,

Money order is fine as long as you don't have a problem waiting before I send out the

figures.
I can get them shipped out to you for $3. If that sounds alright, the total will be

$20.

I took a look at your other post you have, it says you were looking for Malifaux

items. I have a Rulebook in excellent shape, Lady Justice starter and Viktorias

starter and also a fate deck. Anything you would be interested in? They are all

unbuilt. I probably wouldn't be interested in just selling the rulebook, but if you

were interested in figures as well we might be able to work something out.

Let me know what you think,
Thanks!

Well I definitely want the Hordes models....

As far as Malifaux....I would LOVE the rule book.....but I only play Neverborn and

the boxed sets that you have don't help me out....if you can part with just the rule

book let me know a total for the Hordes and the rulebook!

Hey Ken,

I'm not going to be able to part with just the book, maybe one day I'll give the game

a shot with the figures. :-D
Also, the rulebook would bump shipping up quite a bit.

My address is:

I'll mark the Circle items sold and send them out when I receive the money order.

Well crap...I just looked....I already have the Hordes minis that I was going to buy

from you!!!

Out of curiosity....what would you want for the Malifaux book and minis?

Ken

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Ken,

So then I will assume you've changed your mind about wanting the figures?

For the entire Malifaux lot I'd like to get $60 plus shipping.

Thanks,
-Chris

Hey,

So thought I would mention that I just sold off the Malifaux minis as it would seem

nobody wanted both the minis and the figures. I know have the book available and a

fate deck. If you would like the book, how much are you looking to pay?

Cheers,
-Chris

Hows about $27 for them both shipped.

The deck is like new in card sleeves, the book is in very good condition, light

marking on the front back, but no tears or page creases.

Cheers,

Hey,

Sorry about the repeat PM, trying to work out if you got the previous message as my

message moved out of my Outbox.
Please take a moment and let me know when you were able to send the money order as

I've had your items packaged up and ready to go for a week now.

Much appreciated,

Hi Ken,

Just wanted to check in to see what is happening. I noticed you just put up for sale

a Malifaux rulebook, and were planning to buy mine. Were you still interested in

purchasing mine? Did you figure out what happened to the money order? Delivery

confirmation on the money order?

Please let me know what's going on, this sale has been going for 2 weeks now and is

becoming a bit of a drag to be honest.

Unless he sent it in a bubble envelope, box, etc., he can't get Delivery Confirmation (they won't put it on regular envlopes).
So, what I want to know is what kind of a "trace" is he putting on it?

Mind you, this is not to imply any wrong-doing on his part. I'd just like to know how he planned to trace it.

Eric

I'm really not sure what his idea of getting a trace on it was. I'm not even positive he sent the money order out in the first place seeing as my PM's to him go unanswered. I asked him to let me know once he sent it, but I never heard from him that it was sent until I inquired.

Just a bit of explanation, on MM's post.

By bubble envelope, he [MM] means a padded envelope. Thus, the envelope is now a package, not a lettter.

Now, I'm just guessing on this part, but Stonedog could mean he's going to try to find out if the MO has been cashed. Depending on where it was purchased, and who the issuing bank is, he might not be able to find out if it was cashed yet. Most places have at least 14-30 days before anything can be investigated.
Mind you, this is not to imply any wrong-doing on his part. I'd just like to know how he planned to trace it.

That was my thinking. He's tracing the MO, not the letter. Also you might not be able to get DC on a letter, but you can get it sent "certified" or "registered". If money was involved, I would have selected on of the two.

If that's the case, he should be able to provide the OP with #'s for the various forms (and the M.O. number from his receipt).

He is a local guy here around Louisville.
I think I may have a phone # from one of my trade PM's that I have had with him.

It's just a backout. Not a BTR.
Calling him on the phone about it would be a bit over-the-top, I think. : )

Thanks, though.

There are two sides to every story.

In the middle lies the truth.

Quite frankly I am out of work and have been for over 18 months. I am now looking at a 20K a year pay cut to just go back to work. I am also a single father of two under 6 years old.

When my kids need new tennis shoes they get them.

If you cannot live with that, that is your problem. Not mine.

Flame away!

Everyone has different personal situations, which is fine. A simple response to any one of my PM's saying you can't afford the book, or the usual back out I get is "something came up and I can't buy your items" would have been fine. That way I had some idea of what was going on. Ignoring my messages when I was trying to contact you.... probably not the best way to go about on Bartertown for future reference :-?

And of course I can re-sell the items. But you told me you sent a money order. So if I was expecting a money order in the mail, why would I re-sell them unless you contacted me and told me it wasn't coming?

I think about all has been said on this that can be.
Clearly, Stonedog backed out. It's not necessarily indicative of any bad motives or intent. It just means he backed out.
Randall3rd felt strongly enough about it that he filed a backout.
Sd has come on here and stated his reasons for backing out. R3rd has rebutted.

At this point, only flame wars and unnecessary bashing can come about from leaving this thread open.
