Points for the painting contest

Post by kturock »

Last year and probably the year before, we discussed changing the points on the painting contest.
Making a more exact point based on size.. Too many things are like another, but not.
Especially when we get to large or huge models.

Thoughts?

Also we should have some type of bonus points for those people who can and do make a model better than the rest of us. Yes, I know some of the pros can't probably paint down to our level, but there are others who can paint to theirs.

Most of my stuff is table top,, MAYBE a slight bit more.

Come and discuss..

[Also could this be pinned for a while. ]

I'll pin it only if you say the magical word.

I agree we need to do something about points.

We could do it based on how studios price things, so small infantry (skaven, ghouls, skinks, goblins, etc), infantry (Marines, lizardmen warriors, eldar guardians, etc), large infantry (stormcastz terminators, ogres, etc), infantry characters, cavalry/bikes, character cavalry/bikes, etc etc etc

I can get a chart in a sec.

I can edit this when we come to a conclusion as to what we like for points, but I feel this is a good basis to go off of.

Obviously the big big stuff we will have to vote on like normal.

Thoughts?

By that example my herald on disk it would be 10 points for what is essentially a two part model. Now I realize this is probably an outlier but its something to think about. Some items may always need a case by case I guess is what I'm saying. Otherwise yeah that's a good chart to start with.

Well characters are usually few compared to normal models. Also more detail goes into characters (usually). That's why they have their own category apart from the others.

We could add more character categories as well.

I'm sure we can flush out a decent point chart :)

He'd be at least 7..An infantry model on a mount. 8 if he were an elite.. and 10 since he's a character.

He's basically 2 models.. mount and rider.

Ryan, can you send me this image.
My main computer died. Either the MB or CPU is dead.
I'm on my old laptop; it runs Vista. I can't get this to print or even save so that I can actually see it.

Thanks.
