Lower rating? You ship first.
Give me a sense of humor Lord. Give me the grace to see a joke.
To get some humor out of life and pass it on to other folk.
I think what this situation needs is some imagination.

Oh hey, it's me again. I'm incredibly bad at keeping up to date on anything. But, I started Maggotkin and I absolutely love painting Nurgle. So, my Warhammer ADHD has me painting Nurgle LOL. I decide to paint them in a very gritty, scratchy theme. I think it fits Nurgle a lot more this way.
Enjoy my WiP on the Lord of Plagues!

Re: 3eland does hobby stuff! Picture heavy thread of Awesome!
So started working on my Slaughterhost again.
The thing I like about my Khorne, is that I can screw up HARD and still make it look good. It may surprise you, with all the blood on the models, but the entire thing is painted beforehand, then given a final wash of Agrax to grime/dirty it up. Then, I apply rust and oxidation to the metals. Once that is done, I take an old, rough bristled brush and go to town with blood. The base is painted with the new contrast Cygor Brown, which I then layer blood on the base. Finally, after a trim clean up with Abaddon black, it's done!
I read a story once of a Blood Warrior. He was filthy - dried blood all over his body. He smelled bad and his armour was incredibly gross due to the lack of care - not Nurgle levels of filthy, but what you'd expect from armour to happen after countless battles where only the rain would wash away the grime and blood. This Blood Warrior was so crazed with his obsession to feel blood on his skin, that he had blades inserted into his weapon handles so he would bleed. If he wasn't bathing in the blood of his enemies, he was feeding his hunger with his own.
And so when I created my Slaughterhost, I wanted to take that image and put it on the models full force. The Blood-Crazed Warrior that needed to live off that feeling/urge. So all their armour is dirty, rusty and oxidized. The blood of their foes caked on their body. It made no sense that an army so driven by blood and killing, would have clean and spotless armour.
Recently I got a large chunk painted up, including the terrain and some Judgments (like Endless Spells, but Prayer-like). When I did the terrain piece, I was stuck on how I wanted to show this blood lust. And so, I just caked it with blood, even the steps going up are filled with the blood of their foes. However, there was one tiny detail I wanted to push. The blades on the sides are not bloody like the rest. They are clean, for the most part, and then the blood is applied on the edges, as if they threw the bodies of their foes INTO THE BLADES. That's some chaotic heresy right there!
Note that some may not enjoy the direction of the army, if you have a light stomache or hate the sight of blood (regardless of it being fake), please do not check the pictures out (I have a buddy that has a hard time playing against them for this reason).
Here is my most recent work:
Here is a picture of the full Slaughterhost as it stands to date. It's starting to come along!
And then a couple close-ups to show that although the blood is "thrown" on the models, there is still a lot of detail that comes through (especially on the parts that aren't caked in blood):
When I get a chance to this week, I'll take some better pics of the Host!

Re: 3eland does hobby stuff! Picture heavy thread of Awesome!
Covid has changed a lot of things with my hobby. Since I live in the moronic province of Ontario, the place where we can't decide if we should be open or locked down, I haven't been able to get a single game in. Not even joking. We keep going through lockdowns, then reopening, only to have the numbers climb to 2k+ sick per day, back to lockdown where numbers drop, back to opening where numbers climb again, back to... you get the point.
Covid changed my hobby pretty largely. Since I was unable to play in person, I found new hobbies (rock climbing) and ended up selling all my Warhammer!
That being said, AoS is getting their Vampire line redone and I am a huge sucker for Vampires. So, although I doubt I'll be able to play them anytime soon, I will be able to paint them up lovely. Having bases printed for me for them and everything.
So, expect tons of pictures and hobby progress soon!
