Alright, I got the real camera out.

Much clearer. Still not closer to getting the paint right though, lol.

Yes. I'd go with a very light gray and a purple wash. I would BABYSIT the wash, though. Don't let it puul up heavily. You want the wash to taint the gray without pooling.

remember that then you are stripping to get all the paint off. As you a doing this multiple times, you might start seeing paint build up in different areas.

To aid the shadding effect you might want to preshade/highlight the area. Meaning that you use 2-3 different colous of grey, and get the shading that you want. Then wash it a few times. The change in base colour might help get the effect you want.

How deep is the detail on the model? It looks fairly shallow.

I would suggest maybe painting in the purple instead of using a wash, pick a point where you want the light to hit it and using the picture paint it to resemble it. That, or like MM says, babysit the wash.

As Optimus says, remember to scrub the mini very well or you will start losing detail due to paint build up.

Okay, so I think I've almost got it.

I painted her chest armor with a darker grey and washed it and then dry brushed it with mithril silver.
I painter her arm with a lighter grey, and washed it and then dry brushed it with mithril silver.
I dry brushed the legs with mithril too, just to compare.

Not letting the wash pool helped.
Using a grey instead of metallic base layer also helped.

I think the chest armor actually looks pretty decent. (feel free to rain on my parade though).

I just got a new bottle of secret weapon amethyst wash (slightly darker than the secret weapon purple wash) which I will try out.

I can't really see the color on the chest, but the left arm and right leg look like a good start. Maybe a second (babysat) layer of wash?

The pictures came out a bit darker than I realized last night. I will try again with more lighting.

I haven't had a chance to really sit down and paint for a while. I did have a few minutes here and there to work on my first flame effect.

I think it turned out pretty good. There are definitely some mistakes (visible brush strokes, spotty wash in a spot or two).
