Re: BTR - Jay Vera / pookie01
A woman answered for me.
I think a complete report was filed. I spent some time talking with an investigator who took down a bunch of info. He tried to tell me that an agreement online in this format wasn't really binding in anyway and I retorted with we sign documents electronically all the time, even our taxes.

Cops should stick with enforcing the laws and not trying to interpret them. Leave that to the courts. Especially contract law.lynchpin667 wrote:A woman answered for me.

You are claiming theft. He should stick with that.
(No disrespect to any police, mind you. One of my former gaming buddies is one.)

I tried send an email to the account he used to create his bartertown account today. My email was returned as undeliverable as there was no user there with that account name.

Did the lady seem irritated to you? Perhaps it's because she keeps being bothered by people asking for Brandon Vera...
I'm not having any luck calling. I may just call in another police report and hopefully it'll get some heads turning. They really just need to go over there and scare the guy once by saying there have been some complaints about mail fraud and I'll bet he'd miraculously find the packages have arrived.

Don't know if this is relevant at all, but I am fluent in spanish. If it sounds like there is an accent at all, I can try something random, and in spanish, calling from IL . Let me know if that would help at all.
Re: BTR - Jay Vera / pookie01
Hope this is appropriate if not I apologize.
I am from San Antonio and I know a jay who plays warmachine at the place a game at. I will talk to him when I see him and see if he is the Jay you are looking for. If he is I will be more than happy to remind him of the pending deals and of this thread. Also I will be kind enough to remind him theft is not acceptable at the store we game at, my brother and friends are very close to the owners and employees at the store I am sure they could also help deal with the situation by not permitting him in store until he clears this mess up if we ask. It should help since there are not many places down here with game rooms, I can only think of 2 stores with tables set aside for gamers down here. Of course if the jay I know is the jay you are looking for. I will keep you informed once I speak to him. I plan to go up to the store Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday next week so I should see him.
Hope this helps and I hope you come to a resolution to the situation soon.
Thanks

I appreciate any help you can offer on this Joseofsa. You can also tell him that a police report has been filed and a small claims suit is forthcoming. I haven't been able to follow up on this as expeditiously as I would have preferred, but you can bet that I will. I take this really seriously.

In a couple hours I'll be sending Jay registered mail, but I also think I will send the same demand letter suggested to me by the police to Brandon Vera. Assuming he is in some way a care giver, maybe I can accomplish by mail what I sought to do by phone, which is get some parental involvement.

Use Certified Mail, not registered. It travels with regular mail vs registered which is slower and travels under lock and key. It's also cheaper; Certified is $2.80 vs Registered which is $10.60. Both need a signature to be delivered.lynchpin667 wrote:In a couple hours I'll be sending Jay registered mail, but I also think I will send the same demand letter suggested to me by the police to Brandon Vera. The IRS uses Certified Mail to notify/contact people.
When USPS sends Official letter to people, it sends them Certified and another copy normal.
If both are returned, then they not the addressee hasn't been notified. If only the certified one is returned, then the addressee has been notified. That's how the contact people when legal proceedings are required. [like when people are getting fired.]

My demand letters were received at the mailing address at 9:15am monday morning. I have mixed feelings about it since anyone could have signed for it.

Re: BTR - Jay Vera / pookie01
Understood.
You're better off that they were received, though.
If you have to go to court, that's a straw in your hat!
Did you include contact information in the letters?
